1) New tuition and fee for Spring 2008
Due to facility fee increase sharply in recent years, CLSC had huge deficit, we have disclosed this issue in 09/09 Fall General Assembly meeting with you, and had the approval of raising the tuition and fee from Spring 2008. (Please refer to 9/9/2007 general assembly meeting minute). Here are the new tuition and fee for Spring 2008:
- All language class tuition will up $20/semester, that is $150/semester for 1 st child, $140/semester for 2nd child and the rest.
- Registration fee: every family either attend CLSC language or activity class will pay a non-refundable $20/semester family registration fee.
- Service fee : $20/semester for each language class family, the fee will be refunded through 1 CLSC service. For family only attend the activity class, the service fee is waived.
- New adult activity fee/ per semester: adult basketball -> $60, Tai-Chi -> $50, line dance -> $55, ballroom dance -> $25.
- Student activity class fee, no change! Basketball -> $30, tennis -> $30, drawing -> $60.
2) 2008 Spring semester will start on 01/13
If you will continue your language class and/or activity class, then you don't have to do anything, you will be automatically register for the spring semester and bill for it.
- If you are new or did not register in 2007 fall, then you need to come to cafeteria to register for spring semester on 01/06 or 01/13. Or email to CLSC registrar at registrar.clsc@yahoo.com before 01/12.
- If you want to drop the class, or have changed the class or plan to change class, or your class information on CLSC 2007 Directory is different than your current one, you need to contact registrar to get information changed at registrar.clsc@yahoo.com and Academic Dean, Bianca Chang at cchangb@gmail.com.
3) In the last couple months, many BOD/BOT members has put in many hours of effort try to find extra funding and save operation cost for CLSC.
They have worked on applying the Columbia Foundation grant, but did not get it. Our school also established the new partnership with Howard County public school system, but we still will not receive any discount of the facility fee. We hope you can join us to continue work on this issue! But let's first express our big thank to Allen Chu 朱定中, Richard Kuan 管士彥, Eric Huang 黃文斌, Yen Li 李炎 and Mei Shyong 蕭玫 for their timeless effort.
4) Helpers needed:
- The Centennial and River Hill High Schools will have their freshman/parents orientation night on 1/10 (Next Thursday night) 7:00 pm . There will be a table set up for Chinese Language Course introduction. We need several helpers for each desk. If you are available please let Emily or Richard know. We desperately need your help.
- Wild Lake High School will have a Science Fair on 2/1.(Friday) They still need several judges at this time. If you are a science professional and like to work with the high school students and share the proud of their hard work please fill the form in the service desk and turn to Pan Wei-Chuan 潘維娟 liu_clsc@yahoo.com before next week or let her know you are interested.
5) Here is an opportunity for CLSC families to form a group learning Chinese next summer in Taiwan.
華裔團員每人補助新台幣 10,000 元,非華裔團員每人補助新台幣 5,000 元。 We can come up with our own goals and agenda. If you are interested, please contact Feimin Hwang 黃斐敏 (410-531-8015) before Jan. 15. We need to have at least 15 participants to form a team. Space are limited, we need to act quickly to reserve the spot. Please see details and spread the word.
