2) 2008 DC Dragon boat race on May 17 & 18 at Thompson Boat Center, D.C.
CLSC Dragon boat team is recruiting participants. CLSC high/middle school students, alumni, adults and friends are all welcomed. Each participant will pay $40 to cover the cost of registration, training and lunch. We need to have at least 20 persons signup to form a team. 3) 作家楊謹倫 (Gene Yang) 先生簽名會 Friday, March 28, 2008, 7:00 -9:00 PM in the Banneker Room at the George Howard Building.
楊先生將討論他的插圖小說"American Born Chinese"(在美國出生的中國人)楊先生這本書是敘述一個年青男孩從華埠搬到郊區後,在文化認同上掙扎的故事。這本書是獲得 "普林茲獎" (Printz Award) 的第一本插圖小說,而且入圍 (finalist) "國家圖書獎" (National Book Award)。歡迎 13 歲以上的青少年及成人參加。 Visit CLSC web for details and direction.
Mark your calendar on Friday, March 28, 2008, 7:00 PM, author Gene Luen Yang will discuss his award-winning book, American Born Chinese in the Banneker Room at the George Howard Building. The American Born Chinese won the 2007 Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature and was a 2006 National Book Award Finalist, because of the effective use of the graphic novel format, and the author's courage to discuss life as an young Asian American . 4) China Acrobat and Music Troupe
will perform a colorful and lively variety of musical, dance, and acrobatic acts on Friday March 28, 2008, 7:30 pm at Jim Rouse Theater
Led by one of China well-known artists, Qu Xianhe, the Arts Theatre was established in 1947 and is one of China oldest and most esteemed performing arts organizations. Over the years, it has produced and presented numerous award-winning music and dance programs and theatrical plays. Its performing groups have appeared in more than 30 countries worldwide.
