Registration and Admission

Chinese Language School of Columbia has 172 students from over 120 families enrolled in this semester. Most students are Chinese American, and the parents are Chinese immigrants from Taiwan, Mainland China, and other Asian countries. The school graders are from the early school through the Twelfth grade. CLSC admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national and ethnic origin in its admission.

The success of the School depends on parental participation. Such participation results in low tuition fees and strong student interest in learning the language. To maintain this interest in the School, admission of new students shall be recommended by the admission committee to the Director of Curriculum. The admission committee shall decide whether the applying student should be accepted based on the commitment made by the parents to comply with the Bylaws of this School as well as the evaluation of the applying student's qualifications.

Any youngster between the age of 3&1/2 and 18 at the beginning of School Year is eligible to enroll as a Student. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis by the Director of Curriculum. The Director of Curriculum is in charge of reviewing enrollment application and placement of the Students. The acceptance of enrollment is decided based on preference in order of:

  1. continuing Students
  2. former Students
  3. new Students

to maintain proper class size.

Enrollment is completed upon the reception of the full semester tuition by the School.
