Code of Conduct

In-class Learning

  1. When class is in session, parents should stay in the cafeteria area and not enter any classroom without prior permission from the teacher.
  2. Parents can sit in a class ONLY with prior consent of the teacher. They should stay quietly in the room and not interfere with the class. Only one parent per student can stay in a class with the teacher's consent.
  3. Discussion or inquiry with the teacher should be avoided while the class is in session.
  4. When attending classes at CLSC, NEVER erase anything left on the classroom’s blackboard, or touch or move any objects on the teacher's desk. NOTE: Such classroom violations may jeopardize our school’s leasing agreement with The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS)
  5. No food or beverages are allowed in the classroom.
  6. If a student's behavior during school is not acceptable (for example, disturbing classes, insulting the teacher, cheating, fighting, etc.), the teacher will give students warnings. After the third warning, parents will be notified by the principal either by phone or in writing. The parents will have to meet with the principal; if there is no improvement, the matter will be brought up at the Board Meeting. The Board may rule to expel the student

Virtual Learning

Expectations for Students

  1. Students are expected to have a functional microphone and camera when participating in virtual classes.
  2. When virtual class is in session, students are expected to be respectful to other students and teachers. CLSC will NOT tolerate inappropriate, offensive comments and/or disruptive behavior during the virtual classes.
  3. Do NOT share the login information with unauthorized persons. The login for the virtual classes is for the students and teachers only.
  4. Students who are disruptive during the virtual classes will receive warnings from the teachers. After the third warning, the Principal will request a meeting with the parents/guardians. If the matter is not resolved/improved, the matter will be brought up at the board meeting and the Board may expel the students.
  5. Students should NOT browse other unrelated websites or wander off to other chat rooms during the virtual classes.
  6. Students are expected to actively participate during the virtual classes. Ways of active participation during the virtual classes include showing their faces, providing responses to teachers’ questions and completing homework assignments according to the teachers’ instructions.

Guidelines for Parents/Guardians

  1. We ask that parents/guardians please assist your child with technology and remain nearby.
  2. The virtual classes should not be video recorded or in any form that would be transmitted or posted on any social media platform.
  3. Personally identifiable information related to students participating in the virtual classes should not be collected or shared.
  4. Parents/guardians should mute your child’s microphone first if you need to speak with your child during the virtual classes.

If parents/guardians have any questions regarding in person or virtual classroom expectations, please contact the Principal (clsc.principal@clscweb.org). Thank you for your support in helping us to ensure a positive and productive learning experience for your child.
